India vs Australia

Revenge Taken! Yes, Australia out of the 2011 world cup.

It was a long wait for Indians to kick some aussie butt! 24-03-2011 will be etched in every Indians memory and surely a day Australians want to forget as early as possible. Specially Mr. Ricky Ponting.

2 legends of the game of cricket met head to head, in the Quarter Finals of the cricket World Cup 2011. Sachin Tendulkar who has his last chance out there to win the most prestigious award in the cricketing history which he has never won. He truly deserves it. And one Ricky Ponting who has been part of 5 world cups, winning it thrice with Australia lifting the world cup twice under his captaincy.

With Australia winning the toss and electing to bat first,  Indian captain making a important change of playing Suresh Raina in place of Yusuf Pathan proved really worth it. Bowling department under the leadership of Zaheer Khan really did a great job. Spinning sensation R. Ashwin made his presence in the team worth it by scalping soe=me important Aussie wickets. Bhajji however was lil disappointing. On the other hand, the legend Ponting played a captains knock of scoring a ton in what might be his last world cup game. Hats off to this master batsman and its really a proud feeling to have seen such a master class in action all these years. Restricting Aussies to 260 was really a job well done by the Indian bowlers.

India’s batting on the other hand gave a very good start with the lil’ master and Sehwag playing a sensible innings. It was indeed a thriller and went down to the wire when Indians lost quick wickets in succession. Gambhir commiting a suicide by running himself out after a mix up with Yuvraj Singh. Kohli trying to loft the ball over mid wicket, that too a full toss one found the hand of a Aussie fielder. It would have been more trouble for Indians if not for the fantastic knock of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina who made sure India are home well in time.

Overall, a nail biting finish to the First Final for Indians with the Second Final set up at Mohali against our near and dear neighbours Pakistan on Wednesday 30th of March. This one’s gonna be the BAAP of all the world cup matches.

Bring it on! Lets have it 🙂
