Second Semester Beckons!

It feels just like I joined my Masters program yesterday! 5 months have passed in a jiffy. 3 internals, 1 final a total of nearly 30 exams done in 5 months with no time to look around and indeed it has been a splendid start to college life after 3 long years.

It all began in August, with cricket, class tours, outings, dinners, night outs etc began to be the regular routine in my life. It had all ended in June 2008, when I finished my graduation. Never had thought I would get into a masters program, but god had other ideas :). Now after 5 months into this newly set – back to the old – college life, after a much-needed break after the grueling semesters and loosing some pounds during semesters and gaining some during the holidays, it’s now time to get back to classes, assignments, labs, exams etc.

It will be a more exciting and the final 5 and half months of college life after which it will definitely be the night out at office 😛 and then in a few years night out at home with kids :P. Long way to go for the latter one, so now its time to enjoy the college life. A new class and a new set of friends beckons, with my ESIGELEC classmates leaving to France this month end which I had to drop out due to some personal reasons. Will definitely miss the class which I spent my first semester in and a few will definitely be missed.

A new year with new hopes and new aspirations aiming high and wanting to fulfill those dreams. Life has to move on and new challenges already in way. Awaiting Embedded Systems Section ‘A’ on January 9th, 2012. 🙂

Watch out folks, here I come. 😉

Here I am – A student @ Manipal University :)

Being born and bred up in Manipal, it was always a dream to be a student of Manipal University 🙂

First let me tell yu something about Manipal. Being a small town in South Karnataka, India which was started by the great Dr.T.M.A Pai is known for everything. By everything I really mean everything. Yes, education, culture, lifestyle, students, Night Life, Hot Girls, fantastic restaurants and what not. Manipal is totally inside 5km diameter. I mean it. Such a small town and is tagged as The Knowledge City 🙂 Feels really proud to be a localite at Manipal.

Since my young days, it was always a want to be a student of Manipal University.  2 of my juniors from Under Graduation joined in and from the time I got to know about them, the feeling of getting back to college had begun to come over me 🙂 but I dint have any option but to wish them Good Luck and think of joining the course next year. I was just thinking, if at all I had planned it few months back, would surely have got in and did the course alongside my friends. God had other things to offer :). Thursday July 22nd I came to know about the seat vacancy for Masters Program at the University. I had made up my mind. I am going in. But there were constraints too. The company I was working for had a 30 day notice period just like any other company and it would be literally impossible for me to join on August 1st. I just made up my mind to get in and take a seat for Masters and regarding the job just thought what ever happens will be looked into :). On 23rd finally the want of being a student of Manipal University was fulfilled 🙂 Masters in Manipal College of Information Science! Did not write the university exams too but I was in since the vacancy of seats :P.

Now the biggest part was to resign from my job. Monday when I reached office I just had to speak to my Manager and tell him the whole thing which happened during the weekend. It was a shocker for sure for him. Unexpected and more than anything else I had to leave and join college on 1st August. Just 5 days of notice period :). Gods grace I must say, the manager of my company agreed and just 2 days after Monday I was released from the duties of the company. 🙂

It was really amazing feeling by the thought of getting back to college life 🙂 Now, I too would be a student of the Manipal University. Would call myself so fortunate for things turning out in this manner.

It’s not even a month now being back to college life and I am beginning to love it. It isn’t the same as during Engineering. I feel we weren’t that serious then. But now its all together a new feeling, the feeling of responsibility, the want of performing well and of course the last student life in this lifetime which I must enjoy 🙂 Classrooms, labs, lecturers are top-notch. Infrastructure is just mind-blowing. We have got the best of everything. Experiencing this is really amazing. Marena, the indoor stadium is a must watch. Check the video to get a feel of it!

Every other girl who passes by you in the campus is a “BABE”. Mean it! I feel, all the beautiful girls god ever created have landed up in the Manipal University campus :P. The atmosphere in the campus is just thrilling. Even though curriculum demands a lot out of us in a very short span, the atmosphere will surely make us stand up to it 😛 ( yu know what I mean). Cafeteria, libraries are way too good.

Nearly a year more to be spent in the campus of Manipal and I am sure, it will be a hell lot of wonderful times which I will cherish throughout my life!

Late Night Walks at CEC

These were the final days of my college life.. I had a friend circle of around 8 in hostel.. Except 2 of us me n jadu all used to booze 🙂 It had been a routine for us in the final year every week once or twice we used to go out for dinner as it was the end of our studying n we would part away soon we made it a point that in the final year we ll enjoy to the core.. And as i had mentioned earlier my college is located in the mountains we had to come to B.C road for a good treat!!! We were the regular customers of a bar and restaurant named Dakshin Court in short DC!!! It was a very good restaurant.. Decent people visited.. Most of the time filled with students of CEC..
This was the day when me,kulla and shiv shankar had to attend our Hughes training in Mlore.. It always used to be till 8 in the night.. So we used to have dinner utside n return back to the hostel.. When we were on our way back from Mlore Santosh calls me up saying he n others will be coming to DC for dinner and then we ll go back together.. So we met up @ DC around 9.. We were totally 6 together.. Tutam had internals n had asked us to get some parcel for him.. We started eating n as usual the others BOOZING!!! N i ll have to mention when these guys start boozing the time doesn’t come into account.. There are times when we were there in the restaurant till 2 or 2.30 n den returning to the hostel.. But this day as all my frens were no present the ceremony ended a lil early.. I guess it was 1 in the nite when we left DC to hostel..
There’s no other means of transport to our hostel from B.C road except for autos during that hour.. We hired a auto.. The auto drivers there hesitate a lot to come to our college.. The reason they say there are “Ghosts” on the way to our Mountain side college.. I have heard a lot of people like the bus drivers, our hostels servants say this but i never believed because i never saw any.. The auto driver we hired was kinda not fully agreeing to come to the college.. We had to persuade him a lot.. We 6 of us in a auto 🙂 Above that i guess 3 guys were totally blown.. After a long time of discussion with the driver he agreed to come to our college for 150 bucks :).. just 15 mins way they charge such a huge amount.. No big deal in that because it was 1.15 in the night when we started from DC..
On the way as usual we were shouting, cracking jokes as though it was 1.15 in the day time.. I dunno what the driver must have thought seeing us behave like that.. I am 101% sure, seeing one of my fren who was totally blown the driver must have thought
” Jokulu marey.. Hakina jasti anda.. Kaas mast undu.. Incha pura hakada life halu malpuera”.. meaning “these kids are totally blown n are pampered by thier parents giving lots of money n these kids spoil their life”..
He din’t speak a word to us.. But we spoke a lot to him.. :).. The streets on the way till the college hardly have streetlights.. Nothing can be seen in and around.. Both sides of the road are forests n all creepy sounds can be heard when silent..
We were almost half way through n suddenly our auto stops giving a jerk.. It usually happens with some auto’s because there are steep up hill roads.. We were not worried so much.. Suddenly the driver says the auto has broken down n he cant fix it now.. Shit!!! We are half way through n we cant even go back to fetch another auto.. At that time of the night where to get help from.. I was not worried about walking to the college which was around 4 kms from that particular spot.. But some of my frens were having a prob.. They were pretty scared.. One of my Fren named Joel Preetam’s house was located nearby.. So i called him up n requested him so that we could park the auto in his place as he cant leave it on the road.. He readily agreed n his dad helped us in that matter.. One prob solved but our huge problem was to get back to the college..
We had no other way other than walking the 4.5 kms in the nite wid only the moon n our cell phones showing the way wid the light!!!
We started walking all the way.. It was pitch dark.. Except for our cell phone lights.. Jadu had his special cell phone torch leadin the way..Guys who were blown came back to their senses after walkin a km or so 🙂 It was so much fun walking with them.. Santosh n Jadu were pretty scared though.. I and Kulla were scaring them a lil more by telling all nonsensical stories.. 🙂 Walking 4.5kms is quite a tuf job in that time of the day.. Above this we had to carry tutams and his roommates parcels all the way.. Such a huge parcel we shifted from one guy to the other in regular intervals.. I n kulla fought regarding that too :).. Each step which santosh put ahead was wid so much scare in his mind.. 🙂 His face was worth watching even though now he denies he was not scared.. But everyone knows how scared he was.. 🙂
We tied our shirts to our waists n singing nice songs we moved on n on n on..!!! Finally around 2.30 or so i guess we reached our hostel.. Entering the hostel thru the construction building.. Climbing walls to get inside.. Wow.. Wat a nite.. I just cant forget this.. There were no ghosts nothing.. I guess we were having so much fun even during that time of the night n in that place we never felt the walk tiresome..
That night walk will be cherished by everyone for sure throughout their life.. Specially Santosh!!!
Cheers,
Muki

Life at CEC – Just the begining

Right from my childhood I always used to hate staying in hostels.. My parents always used to scare me, whenever I irritated them the most, saying they would admit me into a hostel in future!!
The things yu feel yu shouldn’t see in your life, sometimes it so happens tat yu ll surely see it :)..
I din wanna go to a hostel @ ne cost.. Wanted to stay with my parents n study, as i knew after engineering der s no chance i ll get to stay with them!! but it turned out right the opposite…
I guess i joined my engineering college on August 1st week.. My college’s located in a mountain.. M not joking.. The path which leads to the college is so horrible.. Something like a hill station.. Very cool during rainy season n for people who love to sleep its the best place ever!!! The best thing about our college hostel was we were allowed to choose our roommates.. I had a fren named Ashwin Shenoy aka Panoy… We decided to stay in the same room..
It was a sunday n the room allocation process started.. We got our room n started meeting our new frens.. Most of my floor guys were my PU classmates itself.. So we really had a nice time sitting n chatting together..
The 1st n 2nd floor of the hostel were for the freshers n the 3rd floor was occupied by the 2nd year guys!! We all had the fear of ragging.. I still remember the stern look our seniors gave d day we joined hostel!! It was really very scary..
It was mid noon n we were feeling quite bored sitting in our rooms.. A guy called Damodar Baliga decided that we all shall go to the 3rd floor where ther s a TV room n enjoy.. So collecting a lot of courage a few of us started moving towards the 3rd floor.. We were really scared as to what the seniors reaction would be.. But still we moved on.. We reached the TV room.. Sat on the chairs n switched on the TV!!! Dam.. The door behind us was shut n we all were kinda trapped inside.. Our seniors had locked us up inside.. For about 15 mins ther was no sign of them opening the door.. Den suddenly the door opened n 3 guys come in n ask us, “Who gave yu permission to enter the TV room!! Tat too on the 1st day of yur admission.. ” We were all silent.. He den said, “This TV room is for the seniors.. For juniors ther s a TV room in the ground floor.. Get out of here n don even dare to come up n also don even think of complaining.. If yu do yu’ll face the consequence..” We just rushed down the stairs.. We were dam terrified from their behaviour.. After n hour or so we went to the ground floor TV room n were enjoying der.. To our surprise the warden comes n bashes out at us again.. The ground floor TV room was for the lecturers n we were duped by our seniors..
Evening we were sitting in our rooms.. All seniors were out on the ground playing n we were not allowed to come to the ground for a week!! On the mountains sitting in yur room sucks badly.. We all gathered in my fren Gujjadi’s room.. He had a mp3 player with woofers.. We played some music n were enjoyin.. The music was quite loud n again the warden comes n shouts at us for playing the music so loud.. He said , “Is this a hostel room or a disc where yu can play such loud music.. It s 10 in the night n yu people are enjoying.. Being the first day @ hostel cant yu sit silent for today atleast.. Yur system is out again playing music this loud, it ll be in my room.. Did yu get it??” We all were dumbstruck.. 1st day @ hostel n we get fucked so badly..The seniors were enjoying each n every moment of this standing in the 3rd floor.. Neva expected such a terrible start to my hostel life…
But as days passed by i came to know the days i spent in hostel were the Best Days till date through out my life..
